The Everglades Roots Festival is a grassroots winter gathering held each January at Trail Lakes Campground in Ochopee, Florida, deep in the Big Cypress Swamp. What began as a small pickin’ party has grown into a true Old-Florida celebration where bluegrass, Southern rock, folk, jam bands, and singer-songwriters come together under the cypress trees. Guests enjoy a laid-back, front-porch atmosphere with campfires, pickin’ circles, and live music throughout the weekend. Every year brings touring and local talent from across the Southeast and beyond — from Florida pickers and Delta-flavored blues artists to traveling folk and jam bands who carry the spirit of America’s roots traditions.

 

Primitive camping is typically included with general admission, giving guests the full back-country experience, while RV electric upgrades and glamping chickee huts are available through Trail Lakes. Alongside the music, festival-goers enjoy a curated mix of food and craft vendors, artist booths, and swamp-culture experiences unique to the Everglades. More than just a music event, the Everglades Roots Festival honors tradition, community, and the wild spirit of Old Florida — a place where stories are shared, strings are picked, and friends gather under the stars in one of the most iconic landscapes in America.
